National Park Harz

There are two national parks in the Harz: the Harz National Park The Harz National Park is a nature reserve in Lower Saxony, Germany. It comprises large portions of the western Harz mountains, extending from Herzberg at the southern edge of the mountain range to Bad Harzburg on the northern slopes. The total area is 158 km².

The park was established in 1994, comprising parts of the districts of Goslar and Osterode. The elevation is between 230 m and 927 m (Bruchberg mountain near Altenau). 95 % of the area are covered with forest (mainly coniferous forests).

National Park in Saxony-Anhalt. The source of the Oker The Oker is a river in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a tributary of the Aller river and 105 km in length.

The source is located in the Harz mountains, where the river winds through a narrow valley called the Okertal. It then runs northwards through Vienenburg and Wolfenbüttel before entering Braunschweig (Brunswick), the largest city on the banks. Some 30 km north of Brunswick
